Elana Black is an award-winning multidisciplinary creative director & art director, specializing in data-driven & conceptual 360 brand campaigns. She’s currently an Associate Creative Director and Senior Creative Lead at Amazon’s Brand Innovation Lab. Since joining Amazon in 2017, she has led, developed and executed bespoke creative activations & sponsorships for a wide variety of grocery, CPG and apparel advertisers. Elana identifies and creates novel ways to integrate brands into the Amazon ecosystem based on customer behavior. In 2018, she helped create and launch the platform on Amazon Ads for multi-advertiser editorial campaigns, which have since expanded into every endemic category on Amazon. Prior to Amazon, Elana worked as an Art Director at agencies such as BBDO, 360i, mcgarrybowen, MRY and Momentum. Her work has won gold One Show pencils, Shorty Awards and Internationalist awards, and has been recognized at Cannes.

Professionally, Elana strives to make useful and beautiful advertising that doesn’t look or feel like advertising. Her personal and professional creative lives often blur, as she is passionate about interior design, fashion, event planning, photography, travel and fine art. Elana goes the extra mile to consciously represent people in her work of the broadest breadth of race, creed, color, size, gender, ability and sexual orientation.

Elana graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Advertising and completion of the creative advertising program (Texas Creative). She is also a graduate of Miami Ad School’s Creative Director program. Elana completed the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) Improv & Sketch comedy programs, and has performed long-form improv and character skits across NYC.

Elana has lived and worked in New York since 2013 and resides in Brooklyn with her husband (Greg) and son (Ezra).
